The beauty of Silk fabric

We welcome our first designer Hazel Orleans the aspiring designer behind Eki Orleans. We love Hazel’s designs which blend African vibrancy with European elegance. Her designs are inspired by her Nigerian and German heritage.

Hazel uses intricate silk textures to produce beautiful and vibrant patterns combining them with exquisite cuts. Her designs show how much she loves working with this delicate fabric.

Historically, silk fabric was first developed in ancient China, with some of the earliest examples found as early as 3500 BC. Silk is a natural protein fiber which is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Initially silk was reserved for the Chinese emperors but via the Silk road from China through India, Persia, east Africa and the Mediterranean silk eventually became available in Europe.

Like the Silk Road Hazel’s travels took her around the globe which inspired her stunning dresses. If you want to find out more about what inspired Hazel to create this  wonderful collection please visit her designer profile on http://www.fashionaperitiv.com/category_s/101.htm
